From small parts and components to complete lighting systems, Kumho Electric stands for technical excellence. Among our key accomplishments:
- Kumho Electric was the first to develop the Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) in Korea. These high-efficiency, long-life lamps are a critical component in LCD TVs and monitors. Today, Kumho Electric is one of the world’s leading suppliers of CCFL lamps.
- Kumho’s technological leadership enabled us to be the first in the world to develop the 2000 mm CCFL – a narrow-gauge lamp over 6.5 feet long. This cutting edge technological advance made us the preferred supplier for manufacturers of leading brands of large LCD monitors and Back Lit Units (BLU) for color mobile phones, laptop computers and LCD TVs.
- The Korea Management Association has recognized Kumho Electric with its Energy Grand Prize for our R&D activities that have resulted in lighting products with very high energy efficiency that significantly reduce power consumption.

- Nov. 2002 Awarded the Prime Minister's Prize for parts and materials technology in 2002
- June. 2002 Kumho obtains reliability certification of the parts and materials-CCFL from the Agency for Technology and Standards, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy
- Oct. 2000 Kumho has the ceremony for the completion of mass production line for CCFL
- Sept. 1999 Kumho introduces production equipment for CCFL from CKD Co. in Japan
- Dec. 1998 Won Bronze Prize for electrodeless fluorescent lamp at Patented Technology Exposition
- Nov. 1998 Awarded "Best Customer Satisfaction" for Charmlight Gold
- Mar. 1997 Kumho acquires ISO 9001 certification and JIS approval
- Dec. 1994 Kumho acquires ISO 9002 certification for the lighting division
- Feb. 1993 Kumho is installed with an automated special lamp (CD) production line
- May 1989 Kumho obtains Q Mark for all lighting products
