Kumho's Vertically Integrated LED Manufacturing Delivers Results
Unlike most other companies, Kumho Electric controls every step in the LED manufacturing process, enabling it to develop LED applications and products that are optimized to achieve specific operating characteristics, from color temperature and luminous flux to high color rendering features:
- LED design and fabrication: Kumho engineers begin with design of the light emitting diode circuitry, etch it onto semi-conductor wafers they have prepared, cut the wafersinto tiny pieces - each containing an LED, and bond electrical leads to each.
- LED drivers: Kumho creates custom electronic circuits precisely matched to a particular LED in order to operate the LED safely with optimal performance.
- LED packaging: finally, the LEDs are assembled into a custom "package" specifically designed for a particular lamp or application. This incorporates the LED, its circuit board mount, a heat sink to dissipate heat, a lens to focus the light output, and a plastic enclosure, ensuring the finished product will have the optimal light output with minimal heat loss
Most LED suppliers don't do this. They mix and match LEDs, drivers, and packages from a variety of sources that are not specifically designed to work together.
